Broadbent's Famous Christmas Open House

Take a step back in time when the local general store provided a wonderland of holiday shopping for the entire family.   Every year the Broadbent's elves  decorate every inch of the shop in holiday glitz and glam.  You can't miss the open house, it's such a great start to the holidays.

Friday & Saturday  November 6th & 7th  9:00AM - 5:00PM
128 North 100 East
Lehi, Utah  84043

The highlight of their open house is the "Fontanini Nativity" display.  This is an Italian heirloom nativity which has been crafted since 1908 and is popular around the world.  Broadbent's sets up the entire Oak Room with a sprawling nativity like you have never seen before!  They invite you to join in celebrating the Nativity.

Now the elves let me snap a few pics while they were setting up and here is a little taste of what you will find.

Every little nook has it's own theme.  This one is based on the many traditional and vintage reproduction toys that Broadbent's carries.  The tree is decorated with Sock monkeys, stuffed animals, Jack in the Box & other toys.

This tree is in what they call the "Cowboy" or men's room.
It used to be the room where the mens clothing and dressing room was, back in the day.  Now it houses western decor.  This room houses the earthy, cabin influenced decorations.

In the middle of the store you will find the "Gingerbread" section.  This part of the store used to be where the grocery items were.  It now houses all the kitchen and houseware items.  During the holidays it is decorated up and reminds me of what the gingerbread house Hansel and Gretel discovered may have resembled.  Everything looks good enough to eat, but don't be fooled.

Peek your head around another corner and you will discover the vintage decorations.  This section just tickles me pink!  I can stand here and instantly be transported back to my Grandmothers living room in the 1960's, such charming items abound here.

If you have a soft spot for Jim Shore figures, you will find a great selection sprinkled throughout the store.  Broadbent's carries Jim Shore for most every holiday or occasion.

Just a stroll through the store and you will be asking yourself "Where do they find such darling things"?
Well don't wait, the inventory goes quick, and then it's 12 long months until it all magically happens again!

Class Schedules

Scheduling classes seems to be the never ending story around here. We are going to try something new. Each class will be posted individually as they are scheduled. You will find a picture of the project, supply list, teacher profile, as well as the date and time the class is scheduled. As we make adjustments to the schedule, you will also find this information posted. The exciting part about this is we will also post show & tell from our classes which I hope creates some buzz and interaction. We hope you find a class that fits your fancy, so come play with us!

Here We Go!

This blog marks the beginning of a new journey for the "Chicks" in the quilt shop. As many of our loyal followers know, we pride ourselves in resisting today's technological advances, (unless it has something to do with quilting)! We love that you can still find a rotary dial phone attached to the wall (and yes it works)! When someone calls for the owners we can honestly say "they are out in the barn feeding the chickens". The climate control in the building often reacts like a menopausal woman; hot, cold, hot, cold & yes like the Cheers theme song, "Everybody knows your name". Our hope is to be able to share all the new along with the charm of the old with you. We hope you enjoy!
