I have followed V& Company's blog for some time.
Vanessa is so creative and presents such beautiful things on her blog.
Now we can celebrate more beautiful projects in her new book.

Vanessa loves making things prettier which is the reason
she decided to write this book.
The projects are based on creative techniques with fabric.
Learn how to add gathers, pleats, texture & twisting to any project.

There are bags, scarves, quilts, pillows, accessories all divided into their
specific category of embellishment technique.
More than 20 projects great for beginner sewist as well as
the accomplished seamstress.

This is such a fun book!
Visit her blog for more fun ideas & a sneek peek @ her new fabric line

Complimentary Stitchery 2012 (1st. Quarter)

Our awesome designers have been busy coming up with a new Complimentary Stitchery for 2012.

After much thought, they decided to carry on the excitement from the
Red & White quilt display"Infinite Variety" in New York City last year.
The exhibit was so popular a prediction was made that 2012 would continue to be the "Year of The Red & White Quilt".

So our Complimentary Stitchery this year will be
"Red & White" with Red work embroidery.

Patterns are complimentary and available during each prospective month.
Fabric packets are $11.95 per. Quarter.
The fabric packet has enough fabric for 6 blocks.
If you miss collecting any patterns, they will be posted on our blog quarterly.

You can choose to construct the quilt on display or a center medallion wall hanging which will be reveled later.

So enjoy and make this year your "Red & White" quilting year!

Monday Book Club

There is a movement going on right now within the quilting world.
"Enjoy the Process"

What does that mean?  Well quite simply slowing down and really finding
joy in every step of the quilt making process.....
From selecting the fabric, pattern, quilt top construction, quilting of the top & lastly the binding.

This book covers quilting by hand using big stitches called "Utility Quilting"

Using the great information in this book, you too can enjoy just another part of the quilting process while saving some hard earned $

Learn how to baste your quilt so it becomes a portable quilting project.
You would be surprised how much quilting you can get done while waiting at appointments, sporting events, car pool, music lessons.  Little bits of time that often just go wasted.

There is just something nice about connecting on another level with your precious quilting.

This is a wonderful book.  Very well done & full of information & helpful hints.
So grab some Pearle cotton & get quilting!

Monday Book Club

This book has been out for a little bit.....I always think it is interesting to watch how certain books or fabrics progress in popularity after they are released to the general public.  We live in a day and age where information can spread so quickly in so many different methods.  If you peruse the Internet you might have noticed the growing popularity of One-Yard Wonders groups.  They are doing everything from making a project a day from the books....to challenges in creating new items for future books.

This is the second book in what has turned out to be a very popular series....
Fabric-by-Fabric....One-Yard Wonders

Just as you found in the first book, there are 101 great projects which only
require 1 magic yard of fabric.

This book differs in that the projects are designed with specific fabric types in mind, which is a really great way to branch out from sewing with cotton only.

All the projects are from contributors & their bios and blogs or websites are listed so if you really love what they do, you can follow their blog for more great ideas.

If you like small simple projects, which only take a yard of fabric, you will love this second book from Rebecca Yaker & Patricia Hoskins.

Very well done, 101 days of sewing fun!  (Over 400 pages + paper patterns)

Monday Book Club

Today's book is such a feast for the eyes and mind....

"SCRAP REPUBLIC"

This is the second book for Emily Cier....
She is quite the talented quilter.
In this book you will find 8 quilt projects, all presented in LIVING COLOR....

The focus is using your scraps.....
I love the way she walks you through the organizing & sorting of your scraps.
Then stitching them together to create scrappy fabric which you then cut your pieces from.

If you are not a huge scrap repository, she gives you instructions as well as yardage to purchase fabric for each quilt.

I just can't do this book justice with a review.  If your are smart you will get
your hands on a copy and feast on every page!

Now I will say it is a modern book, & the amount of color used is not for
the faint of heart.......
I really think the principles could be applied to most any style or fabric scrap
collection.

It is only around 51 pages and priced at $16.95
so I think it will fit into most budgets.

I promise you will never look at your scraps the same way again!

Monday Book Club

Just a reminder what Monday Book Club is all about....

While I love reading new quilting books and trying
to impart my excitement for each book to you.......

The main focus is to offer you 25% off on each selection
on the Monday it is featured.

Today we have another great book....

Fresh Quilting (fearless color, design & inspiration)
by Malka Dubrawsky

The cover alone is so inviting!  Great care has been taken to address many
of the basic questions many beginner quilters might have.
You will find great quilted projects for home & family
as well as super cute and not your ordinary quilts for baby
& wall.
There are two projects that really caught me..#1 A large hex quilt....Beautiful and so much easier since the hexies are about the size of a salad plate.  #2 A super cute sewing machine cover.  I think it would make a great gift (for myself or someone special)....

I think you will most certainly find inspiration inside this wonderful book.
